HOW WE WORK WITH VICTIMS
Hands of Hope Victim Advocates provide compassionate, confidential support to individuals impacted by crime, abuse, or trauma. We empower survivors by providing information about available options, supporting informed decision-making, offering emotional support, and guiding them through legal processes. Advocates also work with other organizations, such as criminal justice or social service agencies, to get help or information for the victims we serve.
OUR SERVICES
HOUSING
Hands of Hope helps individuals experiencing unsafe living situations connect with emergency shelter, explore long-term housing options, access rental assistance and housing resources, and receive support from an advocate 24/7.
SUPPORT GROUPS
Hands of Hope offers a weekly virtual domestic violence support group in a safe, confidential space where survivors can connect, share experiences, and find support on their healing journey.
LEGAL SUPPORT
We provide support through criminal justice and legal proceedings, helping victims understand their rights, prepare for court, and obtain protection orders with guidance every step of the way.
SAFETY PLANNING
We help victims of domestic violence develop personalized safety plans to increase safety while staying in or leaving an abusive relationship, at work, and when children are involved.
SAFE AT HOME
Hands of Hope helps survivors explore Minnesota’s Safe at Home program, which provides a confidential substitute address to protect their actual location and support their safety and privacy.
OFP / HRO
Our victim advocates can help victims navigate the process of obtaining and Order for Protection (OFP) or a Harassment Restraining Order (HRO). Throughout the process, we are the liaison between the victim and the legal authorities.
